Dead Snow, a movie that must have been made by zombies!!!

Somewhere in Norway, eight medical students go to a cabin in the mountains for the weekend...

A freaky living dude tells a creepy story of terror & hate....

Greed & alcohol make the living act badly....

The smartest & most agile zombies i have ever seen feast...

Funny at times & worth watching
There are some seriously disturbing scenes in this film...

HangingTree Review

Dead Snow or Død snø as they called it originally is a intriguing zombie movie including all our favorite ingredients in a zombie movie.
A good plot with disturbing twists, Lots of gore, Hot girls, and Nazis.

The plot line followed a group of med students on Easter break going into a cabin in the woods for a quick vacation with very "R Rated" plans.
Once reaching their cabin they are confronted by a scary old man who tells them a captivating story about the surrounding areas history.

Being hooligan college students as they are, they blatantly ignore his warning.
The movie itself is filled with great battle scenes and good plot with many twists that in a disturbed way make sense.
One of the main differences in this movie from other zombie films is the zombies.

The Nazis are extremely skilled and have the ability to fight and wield weapons as if they were living.
The makeup is not too shabby and the way the zombies feast is certainly "Blood-filled and satisfying".

All in all a good film and definitely worth watching.
The death scenes in this movie were incredible!

If you've got plans for this weekend, cancel them. Wizard World is throwing their Ohio Comic con, and it's gonna be one hell of a party. It all kicks off today with a Wizard World Drink and Draw with Tommy Castillo from 9:00 - 11:00. If you don't know who Tommy is, I'd click the link up there and go check him out. In brief, he's a total badass. His twisted work has been circulating the industry for as long as I've been alive. He'll be personally interacting with anyone who shows up to draw and at the end of the night, he'll be picking someone to win a free table at a Wizard World Con down the road. So yeah, Drink and Draw today with Tommy Castillo.

Tomorrow, we've got Michael Golden; Eliza Dushku; CM Punk; Humberto Ramos & Jorge Molina; Patrick Stewart & John DeLancie; Alan Davis; Val Kilmer; Norman Reedus, Sean Patrick Flannery, and David Della. There will be an adult costume contest. Then, there will be a Masquerade party. All of this, and you'll have the chance to shake hands with the man, Jason, king of Zombies&Toys, as he makes his way through the crowd throwing Zombies&Toys SWAG to anyone sporting a zombie shirt. You know what? If you're sporting a Zombies&Toys shirt, and you get a picture with Jason, you can be entered to win a  free Drew Falchetta "Zombies" print from our zombie toy store. Email the photo to me, Todd, at todd@zombiesandtoys.com with your name and address, and I'll pick a winner on Sunday night. Yeah, that's right. I said it, and I won't be taking it back. If you don't recognize this sexy bastard by now, it's been your loss. He'll be attending the con damn near all day Saturday, so make sure you find him.

(Sorry ladies, there's only one of him, and he's taken.)
Sunday kicks off with Vampire Lore and Other Urban Myths and Legends with Rebecca Housel, A Q&A with Neal Adams, another with Dean Cain, a Kids' Costume Contest, and wraps up with Crazy Coasters W/COSI. Bring the kids, because Sunday is their day.

Get out to Wizard World's Ohio Convention, hit them up on Facebook, do your thing on Twitter, and make sure you shake Jason's hand while you're there if you're into free stuff.

The Walking Dead Episode 3 Review and Contest

A lot of people have stuck with THE WALKING DEAD franchise for a while now. Between the novels, the side stories, and the TV show, there is a lot to keep us fans busy.  Recently, we received a season pass for the video game on STEAM. So far there have been three episodes and the latest doesn't show any signs of downfall.

Taking place one week after the second game we continue to see our story play out as a result of the choices that we have made throughout our journey. Your group still inhabits the motor inn for shelter until you are forced to flee when it is attacked by bandits.  This is where things get quite messy and change a lot depending on the choices you made and who lived or died.

Needless to say you will have a good amount of action in this game and the story will further be flushed out.  With two more Episodes in the works, Telltale continues to do a good job setting up the story to transition easily into the next episode. The game still controls just as good as it always has and the voice acting is top notch.  I have always found myself wanting to play through most of the game in a sitting or two as the story is so engrossing.

I would say that if you want to get into the game, now is a great time to do so.  Walking Dead Episode 3: Long Road Ahead is available now on STEAM, XBOX LIVE, and Playstation Network.  I definitely recommend it for fans of the series or adventure games in general.

Also if you would like to try your luck, we were lucky enough to get our hands on a code for episode 3 on XBOX LIVE as well as a code for the Season Pass on STEAM that will net you all five episodes as they are released.  If you would like to win a code send an email with your name and the subject Season Pass to seasonpass@zombiesandtoys.com.  One lucky winner will receive their choice of one code and another will get the remaining code. Stay tuned for our coverage of Episode 4 when it is released next month!

Epcot The First Thirty Years Book - Kindle version ($9.99)

To contact us Click HERE
I wrote previously that I'm the coauthor of a new book celebrating Epcot's first 30 years via fan pictures. There are over 500 color photos stuffed into 158 pages, in a large format book (8x10 inches), costing $29.99 for the color version. Buy it from CreateSpace or Amazon.

Yesterday, the black-and-white version went on sale. It's the same book with the same content, but it's all in black and white, so the cost is considerably lower--just $14.99 for the same 158 pages. Buy it from from CreateSpace (biggest author royalty) or Amazon.

Today, there is now a Kindle version of the book available for $9.99. The Kindle version is uploaded with color photos, but if your Kindle device only displays black-and-white, everything will still work, but will be displayed without color. The Kindle version, it should be noted, is constructed with the recognition that users can adjust font sizes as desired, and our "gallery" style layout of images won't translate, so we left the images centered, full-sized, and probably one or two per page in your actual Kindle device (or when viewed on a PC using the free Kindle software). So the Kindle book will be over 600 pages long.

Epcot--The First Thirty Years Book - Horizons Chapter

To contact us Click HERE

I've previously announced that I've co-written a book on Epcot's history, focusing on fan pictures of bygone things. The book is 8x10 inches, 158 pages, and comes with over 500 pictures. Color (http://tinyurl.com/92of595; $29.99), black and white (http://tinyurl.com/8o45duh $14.99), and Kindle (http://tinyurl.com/9l3bgjm; $9.99) versions available.

Today I wanted to show a sample of a whole chapter: Horizons.

Now doesn't that take you back? Obviously, the images are higher-quality in the actual book; these are just smaller thumbnails to give you an idea of what's in the book.

There are presently no plans to offer the book in bricks-and-mortar bookstores, but the European Amazon websites (United KingdomGermanyFrance) have the book as well.

Tree of Life Attraction Posters (pics)

To contact us Click HERE
In a world where everyone has digital cameras (so: 2002 or so) and smartphones (2009 or so), any new attraction at a Disney park gets full and complete coverage and exposure. No detail is left unphotographed. But what of things that opened before those days? Looking at my own collection of photos, I can easily tell that I am way more comprehensive in my coverage for anything that opened post-2004. But if it was older, my coverage is spotty. I have some things, but not everything.

So when I realize that every so often, I make an effort to "catch up". Here's one such effort--the posters at the queue for It's Tough to be a Bug, in the Tree of Life at DAK. Many of the same posters can be seen at the Tough to be a Bug theater at Disney's California Adventure, but there, the posters have different shapes.

The titles include:

  • The Dung and I
  • Antie
  • Beauty and the Bees
  • A Cockroach Line
  • Barefoot in the Bark
  • The Grass Menagerie
  • My Fair Ladybug
  • Little Shop of Hoppers
  • A Stinkbug Named Desire
  • Web Side Story

Enjoy!

Wreck It Ralph display at Disney Animation (review)

To contact us Click HERE

The pace of change here in Orlando is fast enough that sometimes I do not see new attractions or experiences for a few weeks, even several weeks, after they’ve been opened. That goes double for things that opened inside parks I visit less frequently, such as Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

It’s been several months since I last poked my head into Disney Animation, the exhibit space for artwork concerning the latest release or upcoming movie, as well as home to more permanent attractions like the Animation Academy, Meeting Mickey Mouse in his sorcerers outfit, or interactive screen-based games. It turns out there has been an upgrade to the Production Gallery since my last visit. This area, just after the preshow movie with Mushu, was once home to an overlook above the desks of real, working animators. Those windows are frosted over now, but the exhibit space is often used nowadays or concept sketches, color tests, maquettes, and scale models.

Walls have come down around Storybook Circus, revealing not only more of Big Top Souvenirs (the merch tent), but also Pete's Silly Sideshow (the meet and greet tent) and the third, yellow tent, which we now see to be a combo place for FASTPASS distribution and quick service food (and, according to one report, chargers for phones and ECVs).

Ghost Skull Column

To contact us Click HERE
This was an ever evolving project that started out as one thing, and morphed into a stone column, with a revolving ghost skull that has risen from the fires of hell... well, something like that anyways! Belinda spent hours on the foam block stones and sculpting the inside, not to mention getting the paint just right so the red LED's would glow in the right areas. The wood frame started out as an aquarium canopy project gone bad
( must remember "measure two times, cut once") so it only required a few adjustments to become the Ghost Skull Column.

We're not happy with the skull quality for this project but no Halloween stores are open in our area yet. Possibility of fog too if we can find one that small.

I also made a video using some editing software on an Ipad so it could be seen revolving. It was my first attempt at video editing. I can see where that might get very addictive!

Halloween Horror Nights 22

Details About the seven haunted mazes have been completely revealed. This year the park is one big "scare zone" with no safe areas between the haunted mazes... not sure I'm liking that too much. Last year was nice having areas to relax without fear of being attacked, mutilated, and or eaten...

I am looking forward to the "Gothic House" a cathedral under renovation with gothic arches, high ceilings, and attacking gargoyles. There is also a Universal "classic" monster house this year that should be pretty cool.

Lots of descriptions at the official site or at hhncrypt.com .

Put Some White On Your Tombstones

To contact us Click HERE
This is our third year building our own tombstones. It seems like each year we get a little more bold with the techniques we've picked up from various artists in the yard haunt community. Probably no technique has taken as big a leap as "dry brushing" the white on the edges and highest details of each tombstone.  It doesn't necessarily have to be white, only a lighter color, but experimenting always brings us back to plain old white.

I think we first saw the technique in one of Terra Lair's videos on Halloween Forum. If you haven't seen any of them, check them out on YouTube under ScaryLadyVideos. (You have to love these people that create and teach us how to do some of what they do by making good videos... and for FREE!)

Anyways, at first we were a little sparing with dry brushing white over our paint combinations, after all it was suppose to look all dark and eery. After seeing how it looked more stone-like though we made sure each tombstone had some white dry.brushing. That first year, when we saw how the details popped under the lights, giving those sections or lettering a little more glow, it's become one of the most important parts of our paint schemes.

If you already dry brush your shaking your head and smiling, knowing how important it is. If your like me and had no idea, check out one of Terra's tombstone tutorials and put your white on!

Tombstone top to  your right has been dry brushed, the left side has only been sponged with the black over gray.

Little dark coloring used on the face but the shroud edges were given a bit more white for an extra depth under blue LED's
